Bottles

Argh, this one is difficult. Having nursed my son now for 6 months and trying to get him to take a bottle has been a huge challenge. I know it's not necessary, but there are times when I'd like to leave the house, take a nap, or go to bed early and have my husband feed our son. Bottles are not easy as they obviously can't mimic the nipple. However, here is what we found.

Medela: These bottles come with most pumps by medela. My son does take it, and seems to do fine. He doesn't get much air when sucking which was our biggest concern. It is made of 100% BPA materials, for the health of the babies. It is dishwasher and microwave safe. It is convenient since this is the bottle I use to pump.

Playtex Ventaire: Although a great idea and a classic, this bottle is very difficult for my son to use. He has a hard time sucking any liquid out from the nipple. I also tried and found it a challenge. This bottle seems to be geared toward older babies. This bottle has a micro-channel vent that vents air at the back of the bottle versus through the nipple. This helps prevent air from mixing with the milk and provides a bubble-free feeding. This will be a good one to have around when he gets use to the bottle.

Green sprout Feeding bottle: This bottle is great and easy for my husband, myself, and even my son to hold. It is also BPA and PVC free. It has a wide mouth for easy cleaning. Anti-colic silicone nipple. The nipple is also great and is seems to mimic an actual nipple. It is very easy for my son to suck from and has been our favorite so far. The Green Sprout bottles are great and there are many to choose from. Each bottle is interchangeable with other green sprout bottles.

Now its off to sippy cups!!

Happy Bottling,
