For those who currently nurse or are planning on nursing it's a good idea to have a breast pump in mind or on hand. While in the hospital I was introduced to a very industrial old school version of a pump I knew I wouldn't be able to have in my own home. However, some hospitals will let you rent their pumps, which is good when using a pump for the first time.
I reached out to my girlfriends who already had children and got some really great feedback on Medela pumps.
Currently I have a Medela Swing pump, which I love. It is a single pump so it can be time consuming. It is a more modern version from the hospital pump and sounds a lot less industrial...:) It is also easy to carry on the go and very compact (easily fits in my diaper bag if need be). Here are the specs for this pump:

I'm using the Medela Freestyle pump at work. The main reason I like the freestyle over the pump-in-style is that the freestyle is smaller/lighter and an be battery opperated. It comes with all this freestyle stuff but I'm just using the Easy Expression Hands Free Nursing Bra which works great. The battery operated thing hasn't been necessary yet but I'm hoping to lug this thing along for some longer hikes I'd like to do when I steal a day or two away from the baby for my husband and I to remember who we used to be.
